Description

For their second edition of a candelabra, Alexandre & Florentine Lamarche-Ovize continue exploring the possibilities of collage as a composition method. This time, they draw from their large range of representations, from naturalist to cartoon-like drawings.

The main character of this candelabra is the Baribal, the common black bear in North America, observed by the duo during a drawing session on the Natural History Museum of New York’s dioramas in 2017. It is associated to the elk, the duck, the warthog and the octopus.

Alexandre & Florentine Lamarche-Ovize is a French duo born in 1978 and 1980, they currently live and work in Aubervilliers.

They are represented by Galerie Laurent Godin and Galerie Lefebvre&Fils in Paris.

The Baribal & Varech candelabra is a limited edition of 50 copies and their second collaboration with WE DO NOT WORK ALONE.

Pour leur seconde edition avec WE DO NOT WORK ALONE, Alexandre & Florentine Lamarche-Ovize continuent d’explorer les possibilités du collage comme méthode de composition et de puiser dans les ressources des représentations scientifiques de la nature.
Le personnage principal de ce chandelier est le Baribal, l’ours noir commun d’Amérique du Nord, observé par le duo au cours d’une session de dessin des dioramas du Musée d’Histoire Naturelle de New York. Il est associé à l’élan, au canard, au phacochère, et à un poulpe.

Alexandre & Florentine Lamarche-Ovize est un duo d’artistes français nés en 1978 et 1980, ils habitent et travaillent actuellement à Aubervilliers.

Ils sont représentés par la Galerie Laurent Godin ainsi que par la galerie Lefebvre&Fils à Paris.

Le chandelier Baribal & Varech est une édition limitée à 50 exemplaires et c’est leur seconde collaboration avec WE DO NOT WORK ALONE.
